TRAINING OVERVIEW

In this one-day Level 2 CPD, volunteer mentors will learn in-depth core skills and practices needed to build effective mentoring relationships that create a positive impact while maintaining appropriate boundaries and safeguarding standards.

By the end of this training, volunteers will be equipped with the essential mentoring skills, confidence, and practical tools to support their mentees safely and effectively while understanding their role within the wider support network.

TRAINING OUTLINE

This workshop introduces volunteers to fundamental mentoring skills through guided practice, discussion, and interactive learning focused on:

  • Understanding the volunteer mentor role and boundaries
  • Developing effective communication and listening skills
  • Structuring and planning mentoring sessions
  • Exploring common barriers
  • Mentoring tools and techniques
  • Setting goals and tracking progress
  • Managing common challenges and expectations
  • Following safeguarding and organisational procedures

 

TRAINING OUTCOMES

This training equips volunteer mentors with essential skills, tools and confidence to build safe, structured mentoring relationships that create meaningful impact within clear boundaries.

Trainees will increase their awareness of:

    • Core mentoring principles and relationship boundaries
    • Active listening and communication techniques
